My Experience
I started my career as an attorney with the Federal Trade Commission in Washington, DC, doing antitrust work. So, I know how to handle the big case, but, for most of you looking for an appearance attorney, that doesn’t help very much. For you, what counts is what happened after I left the federal government.
I left the FTC and returned to the New York City area. Soon after returning, I started doing per diem appearances, largely for law firms with clients coming through insurance companies. I started doing simple conferences at first, but soon got more demanding appearances. Then came depositions, and, eventually, trials.
During the same time, I was also developing my own files, largely in the area of employment, which took me to administrative agencies and federal court. I still have my own files, in a number of different areas of the law, including employment. A good part of my employment work is in the area of wage and hours, that is, minimum wage and overtime issues.
Overall, I have done literally thousands of conferences and depositions. If you count only the number actions in which I have handled at least one conference or deposition, I have done thousands of conferences and as many or more depositions.
Naturally, I haven’t done nearly as many trials, but there was a period of time during which I conducted one trial after the other. So, I think it is safe to say that I have done at least dozens, if not hundreds, of trials in both federal and state courts, and in administrative agencies.
The courthouse is my natural environment, and I am very comfortable being in a courtroom.
